Krafton is a well-known company for releasing video games like PUBG and, more recently, Callisto Pistol. However, this is not all that the studio does, as they announced a new creation that is different from anything they’ve done before.

The company is teasing audiences with the news that they’ve created a super-realistic virtual human using Unreal Engine. They hope that the character, who is called Ana, will help them establish their Web3 ecosystem. But what does that mean?

Ana is not the first realistic virtual human. Unreal Engine has a tool specifically to design digital people. The use of these digital characters is also not a new idea. They’ve already made their way into music videos, video games, Ikea installations, and social media. An example would be the star of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Although these virtual beings didn’t have a lot of success, Krafton is confident Ana will be different.

For now, we’re not 100% sure how Ana will help to define the loosely formed metaverse of Web3. We know Krafton has flirted with NFTs and blockchain in the past, so maybe they have plans to utilize Ana here?

For now, all we do know is that they plan on making Ana somewhat of a brand celebrity. Ana will be utilized to draw more Gen Z players to the brand. They plan on having Ana release a music track and video and will use social media in various ways to generate new interest in the company.

Krafton has announced that they’ll share more about Ana and her backstory in a few months, but it’s exciting times when gaming companies start creating virtual humans for PR and marketing. We look forward to seeing how this turns out for the company. For now, check out this news on how PUBG Mobile is having a crossover event with Neon Genesis Evangelion.
